Moving Riverbank Forward with Economic Development
Under the leadership of Mayor Richard O’Brien, Riverbank has experienced tremendous economic growth. Since taking office, Mayor O’Brien has prioritized creating a robust local economy that benefits all residents. Here are some highlights of our economic development initiatives:
- Retail Expansion: The Cross Roads Shopping Center has been fully built out, doubling our retail options and bringing new shopping opportunities to Riverbank.
- New Industries: The Local Redevelopment Authority (LRA) at the old army plant is attracting industries that will provide more than 2,000 direct jobs and an additional 3,000 indirect jobs when fully operational. Aemetis, our master developer, is leading a $750 million project to convert waste into aviation fuel, securing $10 billion in contracts.
- Infrastructure Improvements: The North County Corridor project is set to provide significant economic opportunities, with federal and state funds supporting the construction of pedestrian and biking lanes, enhancing connectivity and safety for residents.
Mayor O’Brien’s commitment to sustainable growth ensures that Riverbank’s economy continues to thrive, providing job opportunities and a better quality of life for all.
