Housing
Affordable and Inclusive Housing for All in Riverbank
Housing is a top priority for Mayor Richard O’Brien, who has worked tirelessly to ensure that Riverbank provides homes for residents of all income levels. Key initiatives include:
- Regional Housing Needs Allocation: In 2023, the State of California determined that Riverbank must construct at least 3,600 new homes above current plans. Mayor O'Brien has facilitated the expansion of market-rate housing and sought opportunities for below-market-rate housing.
- Tiny Home Villages: The City Council adopted an ordinance in 2023 allowing the construction of Tiny Home Villages. This includes projects like the Bridge Covenant Church Project, which will provide eight tiny homes in its first phase.
- Unhoused Resident Support: The Sierra House Day Use Facility was inaugurated to offer services, showers, and clean clothes to those in need. This will be complemented by the remodel of the Sierra House to provide interim housing as part of the RESTART Program.
Mayor O’Brien is dedicated to creating a balanced, inclusive community where everyone has a place to call home.
